The end of the terrorist problem in Punjab

K.P.S. Gill reconquered Punjab for the country, he did so by strengthening and invigorating the local thana.

I always thought it was it was the shut down of the terrorist camps in Pakistan that did it. If I remember correctly, the shut down happened after the delegation (was it Geneva) led by AB Vajpayee (in opposition), during PVN's tenure, presented evidence that brought Pakistan to within a hair breadth of being declared a terrorist state.

All that KPS Gill seemed to have done was take credit and make the Punjab Police into a rogue force, answerable to none.

Surprising - your lapse of memory that is!

How can we be so naive? Instead of fighting terrorism, we have people who are fighting about which adjective is correct - "Hindu or Islamic".

The whole problem is - there is little value of life in India. Just see how Israelis have reacted because 2 of their citizens died. Just see how Americans are reacting because 6 of their citizens died. Compare it with how our politicians have reacted - "1 or 2 incidents in big cities can happen. 5000 were meant to die, only few hundred have died". Such utter trivialization of value of life is the bane of India.

All we can come up with to salute our heroes is come on the camera and dole out money to their next-of-kin. When these people made the supreme sacrifice, it was not for money. It was out of feeling of responsibility towards their men, a sense of accountability towards their job. Not for money. Money cannot make a person give up his life.
